Motor vehicle Automotive fuel system Auto part Gas Fuel line

Swapped out the alternator and broke the plug shown as No 1 on this pic (pic is adapted from someone's previous post).

Had a look at the manual but can't identify the plug, or plug Number 2. Car still goes, but I would like to replace the plugs. No 1 plug seems to be part of the nut that screws into the housing.

Also, anyone had any luck with fixing the TD42 overheating issue? I have put a new radiator in but the motor still gets hot under load. Will invest in a high volume water pump if they actually make a difference. I note three different thermostats are for sale.

Lastly a tip, the little vac hose off the back of the alternator vac pump can perish and split and when this happens you suddenly lose your brakes, so it is well worth replacing.

Long thread but there is some good info once you decipher it. Maybe start at the front and work backwards for latest info.

When you say your TD42 is overheating, have you modified it?
Is it a turbo? Turbo intercooled?

Mine is a factory TD42Ti. I've had the boost increased to 13psi and the factory fuel pump adjusted for the boost increase, and dyno tuned and it's producing about 98kw at the wheels.

I have an EGT, boost and coolant temp gauge to monitor the engine temps.

I've just taken it on a big trip with the family driving Melbourne to Fraser island and back and the hottest I saw was 95°c and EGTs of 525°c going up some steep hills on the freeway in 4th/5th gear, but changing gear or backing off the throttle saw those temps drop pretty quickly.
That was with two adults and two kids under 10 in the car, with it fully loaded and stuff on the roof.

Most of the time the coolant temperature was at 82° to 88° with ambient temperatures of 15°c to 24°c.
I am running the 82° thermostat that I purchased from Nissan instead of the factory 76.5° one.

For those interested, the part numbers for the different thermostats are;
21200-58G04 =76.5°C

21200-05D02 = 82°C

21200-05D12 = 88°C
