I pressume you are talking about GQ? What engine?

4.2 engine (both the TD42 and TB42) have the engine number stamped at the front LHS of the engine block. The 3.0ltr (RB30) engines have it stamped on the LHS of the block under the exhaust manifold. I am not sure where the engine number is located on a 2.8ltr (RD28) engine althought I imagine it would also be LHS of block somewhere on a machined flat surface.

I should have been more specific regarding the model shouldn't I? I am referring to a GU 4.2 wagon.

You have referenced the TD42 engine in your reply so I will look for it where you say it is. Thanks a lot mate.
