My 2002 Patrol 3.0 litre turbo diesel has just had major engine failure. Have not taken the head off to initially ascertain what is wrong but when engine failed it was obvious the sump was pressurised and oil was being forced into the intake manifold - so either a liner/s has split or a piston is holed. Can anyone offer advice on what expected cost of rebuild might be. If block is in good condition (motor is 254k old) should I be looking at replacing bottom end bearings as well? Any other advice would be welcome.
