Can it be done without affecting the accuracy of the gauges.
As I'm in need of about 1/2 meter more lead to mount where I really want it.
Cheers

The instructions on mine said that you can't alter the length of the cable at all, it's tuned to the thermocouple to give the correct reading.

Cheers

Should be no problem as long as you use the correct extension cable type and get the polarity right. My gauge is a vdo and uses a type K thermocouple and vdo sells the extension cables in 1m, 5m, and 10m lengths.

Each wire in the thermocouple cable is made from a different alloy, If you use the wrong cable which uses a different alloy you will then create an additional junction which will result in an error.

Where are you trying to put it, at the back of a tri-axle caravan? My stock VDO one is miles long and coiled up in engine bay

It's running from in the turbo manifold to right above the rh air vent. And that's it couldn't go any further and the wires and quite stressed to reach there.
And il check that sight out when I get home and see if it's doable. Cheers
