fitting a crane fireball electronic ignition to GQ

hi, we are fitting a crane fireball electronic ignition system to our GQ 4.2 carby type patrol, hubby just wants to clear up a queery before starting the job;
do you bypass the ballast resistance on it, as in the instructions some tell you to bypass and some go through it,
