Fitting a turbo

G'day guys, I've got a 1992 4.2 diesel wagon and was looking at fitting a turbo, but have heard mixed reports on doing so may reduce the life of the engine. Was wondering if this is true as she is in good nic with 248k on the clock and I'm looking at keeping it for a long time but could use some extra power for the camper and tinnie on roof. cheers.
