Going to Fraser Island next weekend (5/2/11) for 10 days . At this stage it looks like the possiblities of getting a cyclone is increasing day by day . Was wondering can someone tell me if and where there is beach camping in Northern NSW as i may need an alternative depending on how far south the cyclone ventures .
Thanks Peter

Check out Yuraygir Nation Park. There are heaps of camping spots on the beach throughout the park. Redcliff at Brooms head is tops. Also Minnie Water near Wooli is good too.

my pick would be... sandon, redcliff station creek or pebbley beach... you can also do a day trip though state forest from sandon, brooms head to minnie water,wooli.... or minnie waters, wooli to sandon brooms head. Cheers Daniel

Are these camp areas on the beach , in national park camp grounds , or caravan parks . Also what if any camp or vehicle permits are required. Is it suitable for camper trailers .

All on or near the beach. All suitable for camper trailers. Most in National Parks (Camping fee's apply) I know Redcliff and Minni waters have dunnies, fire places, firewood supplied. If you have 10 days I recommend doing a couple of nights in each place.

Sandon River camp ground is approached via Brooms Head, via McLean . South Sandon is approached via Minni Waters with a beach drive
