hey guys ,
have changed panard rod bushes and steering dampner, still skakes ? when travelling my brake/rotor/wheel on the right side squeels to the wobbles on my steering wheel , ???? could this be a warped rotor ? and could this actually cause steering wheel wobble/shakes ???
Getting annoying now , might change the front rotors and bearings if so , other wise it will be the swivel hub bearing :( both an expensive fix !!
what are your thoughts
....
cheers .

I would say warped rotor or loose wheel bearing, wheel out of round or out of balance is a common cause of steering wheel vibes.
Wheel balance fixed mine before xmas, it was way out.

It is really hard to tell what is causing the problem. I assume you have checked movement in the tie rod ends and steering box. Also try swapping front tyres to the rear if you get desperate. It could even be a combination of things. Sorry I can't help more.

I'd start with this mate.
Jack up that side of the car and see how it grabs when you try to spin the wheel.

how did you go webby? ive got a similar problem which i think is coming from the steering box. stopped on ground and rocked from side to side i get a knocking sound from the steering box. also the wheel shakes like a big vibrator between 80-100km/h.
what do i look for in the box to fix this? any ideas?

As Shane said can be a combination of things.
So let eliminate a few in the order i would try.
1/- With the Patrol on the ground get a mate to wiggle the steering wheel while you feel all the ball joints on the draglink & tierod & feel if there is any knocking in the steering box.
If you feel any knocking in the ball joints replace them.
If the knock is in the steering box get a specialist to check the box for an opinion.
2/- Jack up the patrol and check the wheel bearing for looseness.
3/-Swap tyre with someone who does not have the shakes & see if it goes away, if it does then it's the tyres.
4/- If you apply the brakes lightly & the shakes appear it could be your rotors.
Warped rotors will only cause a shake while apply the brakes.
5/- while looking at wheel bearing make sure there is no play in the swivel hub bearings top & bottom.
Did you use genuine nissan bushes for the panhard, if not then get nissan bushes
After that i am out of ideas
Cheers

anyone have any ideas ?
From your description it sounds like loose or worn wheel bearings or a warped rotor. Can you feel it in the brake pedal too when you brake?
Loose wheel bearings can cause shakes. Warped rotors generally more so when you brake only.

Patrols do have a common wheel wobble at about 90km/h. I just had new tyres fitted today and last week put new shocks in. 2 days later put Tough Dog RTC steering damper in. It totally removed the wobbles. It's the Big outer spring type. Its F""kn amazing to drive now.

hey.
if still interested
what is the rim size you have (width and offset)
when i fitted new -22 rims with 33" tyres i started to have a wheel wobble. I was told to check my suspension (brand new patrol, idiots at bridgestone). anyways it ended up being that the offset was too big so they've changed the rims to -13 and the problem was gonne
hope this helps

hey guys
, yeah still have the shakes , i think its one of those problems that will go away after you go through everything lol way to many components in the mix , going off road nearly everyweekend wont help the cause hehe :p. cheers for advice though guys. will be getting 2" lift in 2 weeks so we will see how that goes :D

cheers chris

if you are using it off road often then your wheel balance will more than likely be out after each trip. Swap the wheels front to back and see if the speed the vibration happens at changes at all.
