Gday having some troubles with my 06 4.2 ute, starts fairly well when cold, glow plugs are getting power, once its up to operating temp, glow plugs don't get any power at all and can take up to 10-15 seconds cranking then it will fire, blows a decent amount of white smoke, questions i need to know is where the signal comes from to determine the duration of the glow (coolant sensor??) , and if anyone knows once their engine is up to operating temp do they get power to the plugs and for how long.

Thanks

Mick, as I understand it, you shouldn't need the glow plugs at all once it's warm. If it is hard to start and blows white smoke when warm, you have another issue. Sorry mate:(
