hey all looking to head out to warwick for new years leaving friday. at the moment the gap on the cunningham highway is closed. they say it should be open friday at some time but dont really wanna rely on that to much.
what are the other options to get out that way with all the rain and stuff around.
was looking at lake mogerah(spelling?) rd then onto spicers gap road but unsure if its sealed and it says best avoided in the wet.
the government is saying up to warego highway then out either via towoomba range or gatton clifton rd but either is a fair way out of the road so to speak.
so i guess my main question is is spicers gap rd any good after a bit of rain?
open to other routes as well. trying to keep it short as possible but am realisitc it isnt the best time to be trying to get out that way. also has the river into warwick gone done enough to get into warwick itself yet??
cheers

Love to go with ya!!!!!

Could be fun, but I'll be workin.

In all reality, stick to the main drag unless ya got a mate in a tall car to go with ya. It should be all good by tomorrow. Main traffic route. First to be fixed up.

Spicers Gap would be great fun after all this rain. Theres a couple of creek crossings and some mud and more mud and some big hills before you get to the CLOSED gate at the 3/4 mark.

Spicers gap is a 4x4 track only and I would think it would be pretty crappy after all the rain. I'd be surprised if they haven't closed it temporarily. From the Gold Coast Kyogle-Woodenbong might be an option, otherwise it's the scenic route via Toowoomba.

Kyogle is still 4 feet under at this time. The gap or Toowomba are ya best bet.

so really towoomba is probably the only option at this stage. wonder if you can ring main roads or something to find out if the gap is open.
if spicers gap road is only a 4wd track well im going in a 4wd haha. but if its closed well then its pointless. wonder whats quicker towoomba or lismore-tenterfield-new england highway to warwick
just makes it a pain haha.
and if going towoomba whats quicker gatton clifton road or towoomba and onto new england highway?
cheers again fellas.
and yeah kyogle is still flooded real bad.

We went to Janowen the weekend before xmas and we had to go up to Gatton then turn on to Gatton-Clifton rd. Brings you out at Allora. We had to come home through Toowoomba due to flooding and that was a lot longer than going Gatton way. Apparently the gap is open though!
