They are much better first and reverse ratios than the re4.
That and the better rev range will make it pretty darn good in low range.
As the Nissan 4spd is pretty lazy on take off. And takes ages to get to a decent rpm for it to do anything

Yeah most dudes with Barras be it NA or turbo using the re4 will run either 4.3(33’s) or 4.6(35’s+) to raise the rpm.(tbh all the ls guys do the same)
In manual form they use ‘normal’ gearing like what most use with any other engine.

What is the zf auto like for towing. I had a GQ Ti TB42 auto at one point and it was great until I hooked up the camper trailer - the gearing was all wrong for towing.
Gearing on the ZF would be better than the 4sp nissan auto. I also bet you had larger tyres on the Patrol before you threw the camper on. I have TD42 auto and love it. With more power under the bonnet the auto is a pleasure to drive on and offroad
