Hi all, question regarding aircon in a 2004 gu td42 patrol.

I just had air con system vacuumed regassed and pressure tested about 1month ago. When the guy did it, he checked it held pressure for roughly 20min and was all OK he said.

When refilling he added some dye to the system. Air con was cold.

I've went to use the aircon about 2 weeks ago and it was cool but not cold. Ok.

Went to use it yesterday and it's hot.

I assume it's leaked gas out, which is strange as it held pressure during the test. I've looked all over the engine bay and condenser on front and can't see dye anywhere.

Is there anywhere hidden that I can't see where it may of leaked?
Or anything else I should look for.

Should also mention, when turning aircon on, I can hear engine change revs so I'm thinking it still has gas or it would not turn on? What else could it be?

Cheers.

Turn the Aircon to on and then turn off/on the A/C button. Should usually be an amber light. This test will let you know if your compressor is turning on and off. If it works then there is gas and possibly your Aircon is tripping due to heat. Signs of compressor failing.

Are you using a black light? Sometimes the dye is hard to see without using a black light.

Check the A/C drain tube in the firewall for dye.

Is the compressor clutch still clicking in?

Why was the A/C serviced a month ago? Was it not working then?
