Gday all
Fitting an xd 9000 to my wagon which has the nissan branded winch bar.
The fairlead lines up with the top of the winch drum and if winch fitted normally(gearbox passenger side) the winch would have to pull in reverse to wind in according to direction arrows on winch end housing.
I can spin gearbox and mount winch upside down easy enough.
Does anybody else have theirs fitted like this, with the motor on the passenger side and gearbox/freespool lever on drivers side?

cheers

Yep, thats the way to mount it, upside down. Its the way mine is mounted in my factory bar. Just make sure you block off any drain holes, that are now facing upwards, and acting as a water trap.

x2.

Mine filled up with water after only 6 months. Had to pull it down and clean the motor out.

Im no expert with winches and dont have one yet, but cant you rotate the motor housing 180 degrees so the drain holes are still at bottom? so any water ingress can drain...

The drain hole is in the casting of the winch body itself, not the motor.:D
