Has anyone ever been successful in finding a replacement boot for the slip joint on a GU (TD42 1998)? If so where did you find it or what did you use instead?

Nissan want to sell me a complete tail shaft. I've called all the driveshaft & CV specialists I know & they have the same problem. Someone has to make them. I've looked online too.

The only thing I've seen that's similar is something for a swimming pool or dunny but trying to find the right size is near impossible.

Wreckers don't want to separate them either.

I haven't pulled mine off to measure it yet but I reckon it's about 35mm diameter one end & 60mm the other & prob about 50mm long.

It's freakin annoying coz mine was in good shape until we had to winch the car through a river & it jagged itself on a rock.

I had the same issue, getting a complete one from a wreck turned out to be the cheapest option.

hmmmm I had a feeling that was going to be the case. This is 1 side of owning a nissan I hate. There are a lot of parts like this that are hard to get, too many really. These cars are getting to the age where parts like this are failing. Where's the manufacturers support?
