GU Trayback coil cab mods

Righto thought it might be time to punch out a bit of a built/mod thread on the patrol,
The patrol is a 2005 model dx coily when I brought it she had 145,000 on the clock and was as stock as they come from the factory besides a set of heavy coils in the rear as it belonged the main roads (diesel supply) i imagine due to the framework under the ally tray.

we all know what they look like standard so I will start with the tray build...I decided to rip the prone to damage ally tray off and get to work with something a bit more heavy duty, so i did some research, employed me mate Paul (as the offsider) and went and brought some steel.

thats where i was up to at the time i have not loaded any more pics of trays progress onto the bucket yet.. but back bar and hard ally checker roof to come yet..will update the trays progress soon but i'll show you the slider build, so here it is.

some steel 40mm 3.2 thick

got the old hole saws out grad a 40mm and wrestled with the drill press.

If you live south of the river in Perth, I would recommend the work of Byford Motor Trimmers. He made the canopy on my ute, and does a first-class job. I think he's located on Larsen Road in Byford, from memory. Took a little longer than he initially estimated, but I was happy to wait given the quality of what he made for me.
