Gday just bought an 07 zd30 CRD ute, manual with 190kms. I have a high pitched noise which happens between 2500 to 3k rpm, only when I give it pretty much full throttle. Don't know how to imbed a video so i put it in youtube:

Cheers for any help!

Turbo's don't usually give a problem, exhaust manifolds are known to weep on the CRD, but I'll through in another possibility, a small split in a boost hose.
BTW, you cannot post a video directly from your camera or phone.

Hi, I am experiencing a similar problem. Some months ago and after reading similar experiences other forum postings have had, I replaced the fan belt tensioner believing that the bearing was the fault. Well that didn't work but later the sound eventually disappeared. This has re-emerged particularly during a cold engine. Once the engine has warmed up or a couple of minutes running, the sound disappears.

geeyoutoo, can you identify or recommend a procedure what you have as I am somewhat relieved I may not have a turbo problem. I have found that the squeal will disappear after applying some throttle.

Thank you, Barry

Your description of when the squeal is there really does sound like a manifold leak, they are known to diminish in the early stages as engine warms up and parts expand, bloody mongrel of a job. If it was caused by a hose split you would expect it to get worse as boost went up.
