I have an issue with the headlights on my gq, it has the regular sealed beams with stock wiring. Sometimes when I turn the headlights on nothing with happen, if I jump out and give them a wack they come on. If I go straight to high beam it works fine. All connections seem fine and are clean, fuses that I can find are all ok.

Any ideas?

Have another look at the connectors on the Headlamps... they are prone to bad connections and corrosion.

Each lamp is seperately switched on the 'Q so it is a bit unusual to have both low beams play up together... yours doesn't happen to have been modified with Relays or something has it?

If its earth then neither lo or hi should work as the earth is common... if it is only 1 lo beam on a Q that is out (and the globe is OK obviously) it will be either the stalk switch (maybe 85% of the time) or the Lo beam connector (maybe the 10% of the time) and some other weirdrrse problem the other 5

Nearly posted in the wrong thread, it appears im not the only one with low beam issues :p. Anyway I picked up a couple of new sealed beams from repco on the way home $15 each not to bad, easy one to eliminate, plugged them in and bingo.

They have been a PITA since cape york maybe they both shat themselves with water/dust/corragations. I will leave them till they die again and then convert them, thanks guys
