Hello again last week i melted me headlight plugs because of my higher wattage globes went to the auto electrician and he said cut them out and bung in some bakerlight plugs so i did and yes i soldered them in correctly.

Tested them and the result is that they work correctly but the high beam is duller than the low beam and yes they are wired in correctly (compared the filament to my commodore) each filament drops in and out correctly as i turn on and off the hi and lo beam they do there thing but the lo is much brighter than the hi beam. Also over time the hi beam gets duller.

The hi beam indicator light is on all the time when i have hi or lo beam on...

ANY help would be much appreciated

all i can think of is either

it isnt wired up correctly

there is a bad connection somewhere , ie: headlight stalk , in the wiring or plug , earth

if i remember correctly you fitted higher wattage bulbs to the headlights??

did you upgrade the headlight wiring loom ?? , if not you probly melted something more than just the headlight plug

i would pull the plugs off the headlight and turn the lights on and take voltage readings from the 2 plugs , and also see if the dash light goes out

I would first make sure that you have the wires in their correct positions in your new plugs.

I noticed in the Safari thread you just posted in that there is a picture that shows this.

When the high beam is on have a look at one of the bulbs, can you see both of the filaments in the bulb glowing?, or just one?

I guess it is possible that the high beam contacts in the switch may have arced them self together, is there a burning smell coming from the switch?
