hi guys
just need some help with a problem i am having with my 02 4.8
sometimes it won't rev past 2000rpm. sometimes it works but sometimes it doesn't. it doesn't feel like it is starved for fuel. it drives normal until it gets to 2000rpm but after that just goes no further. but revs fine when in park or neutrel. it's got me f**ked.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

hey mate people have mentioned O2 sensors are commen in patrol and that it goes into to limp mode to get home safely!! use the search function and see wats results you get!!

try fuel filter first o2 sensors are not cheap

had a sim thing when towing a trailer with dodgy wiring. unplug the trailer and away it went

.... so is it an auto? if so it may be a dodgy earth screwing with the TCU

the "somtimes" aspect kind of makes me think elec rather than filter.

I've had plenrty of times when my 4.8 has gone into limp mode due to O2 sensor issues. But, the engine warning light always comes on. I replaced by O2 sensors with the $39.00 jobbies being sole on Ebay by HyFlo and they have perfomed well for the last 25,000km.

Havent accidently knocked it into snow mode have you? missus hit that switch oneday plugging her phone charger in and it had me swearing for ages coz id only just purchased the vehicle. It wouldnt rev past about 2 grand and ran like ****e, all of a sudden seen switch and flicked it back and bingo problem solved
