Right i left my 1989 gq 4.2 carby parked for 3 weeks while i was away,tryed starting it today battery dead,no prob i jumped it it started drove for 10 min turned it of ,tryed starting it again NOTHING??? Not even a light on the dash tryed jumping it again as soon as i remove the leads it cut out so i taught il buy a new battery it started but the battery light is on the lights are dim no lights working on the dash,so now i assume the Alternator is ****ed would i be right?

And all fuses including fuse links on battery

What is the volt meter on the dash showing when the truck is running - if its aroun 12 volt definatly the alt.

Its showing 16v? Started it today had no lights or wipers no lights drove and reved it everything came on stopped it,tried starting and nothing again

As said above check fuses first as if the sensor wire is broken or fused and fuse blows it will overcharge. Otherwise regulator in alternator is sad.
