Get an old one and clean it up. Yeah they might be rated 8000lb but it was rated 8000lb with a 2hp motor on it, its got a 6 now so what does that make it?

It makes it faster at a high load. More chance of internals failing though. Especially if you are not using a snatch block.

What internals are prone to failure

Hi,

There are reduction gears for a start. The winch mods are going to be used to work it hard. It will be able to run under load where the original design would have had the motor close to stalling. If you triple the horsepower in a car then give it a flogging, I doubt the Gearbox, Clutch and Diff would be up to it. A high lift jack has a shear pin to stop overloading, same reason.
