Maybe someone else has a different solution, but I’ve always cut the wire and spliced the three together. Using a crimp, two in one end and one in the other. I always try to use heat shrink as well. The ‘glue’ variety offers waterproofing too.Neat set up bud, which one of those would you uses when you want to join the end of a wire to the middle of an existing wire.
Ahhh, that’s not quite right, you can get solder, resin cored or stick with lead. The resin cored without lead is often used in the boating industry, it’s horrible to use. 👍The biggest problem with solder is the actual solder being used. Solder used to contain actual Lead. About 30 - 35 years ago Lead was banned from use, so the formulation of solder was changed. Since the removal of Lead from solder, soldered joints fail significantly more than it used to.
However with soldered joints there should not be much fatiguing of the wires unless they are rigidly fixed close to the soldered joint. I used a mix of soldering and crimping depending on space requirements. I also use heatshrink when I can otherwise a good quality electrical tape such as Nitto brand. I quite often heatshrink crimp connectors as well.
