Fuelled up today and went to pay and the guy In front discovered he put unleaded instead of diesel into his Prada. He filled it up from empty!

He drove it 40 meters to a park and started making calls lol.

I don't know how people do this. My brother in law has done it twice as well.

I did it last year , 30 litres of unleaded into a turbo Diesel hilux that had under a quarter of a tank. I only realized when i looked at the receipt and was in a hurry so i put 10 litres of diesel in on top and drove it 200km back to town.
It didn't like hills or over taking much, but with a little coaxing it would sit on 110

Yep, couple of weeks ago in town pulled into servo I've never used before. Went to the last lane, picked up the blackpump thingy and had just started pulling the trigger when I looked around and saw the 98 Octane label on the pump. only got 1/2 litre in and drive to first lane where the diesel pump was....:headwall::headwall::headwall:

I've got 2 mates that have filled up their diesel vehicles with petrol. It can be fairly expensive but at least I still get to laugh at them:withstup:

Heaps of people here at work have put unleaded into late model diesel vehicles (hiluxes, CX5, Captiva, xtrail etc) over the past few years. Its usuall resulted in injector and or pump replacement at huge costs.

My missus had a 2010 Pajero exceed. Threw the family in for a trip to Noosa a hour and a half up the road. It had just under a quater of a tank of diesel when I got to the servo where I filled the tank for the start of our journey.

A few Kay's up the road it started driving like shyte. I started giving here jyp about not getting it regularly serviced. Got to Noosa unpacked and thought nothing more of it.

Next morning the pig wouldn't start.......the car that is.
Pumping away like a madman on the primer, still no go. Anyway, trucked it to a dealer up there where they found it had been filled with ULP. DAMN.

So they drained the fuel, gave it some diesel and gave it back. To be honest, it drove better than it ever did. Kept it for another 12months before selling it.

She still gets up me whenever we pull into a servo.

Yeah I accidentally will up a hire car today with premium 98 instead of regular El cheapo 91. Spewing I paid the extra 10 cents a litre.
Should have used the fuel we tipped out of your tank, or the stuff sitting in mt ute lol

I put 120 litres of unleaded into the gq. Drove for about 15ks until it started coughing and spluttering. I got it towed home, drained the tank filled up with about 60l of diesel flushed the pump and lines, after a few coughs and farts it started up and ran like normal. Took it away that weekend on a 600km camping trip. I have only recently had the pump rebuilt after 25000 k due to leaky seals. The pump also had water through it twice prior to the petrol incident.

A mates missus filled his diesel rangie with unleaded. I was actually cheaper for him to buy her a mazda 3 then risk her doing it again.

A friend of mine has a husband who's a cop, and he filled a diesel territory with ULP and it died a few kays down the road. Not sure how much work it needed but he got his ass kicked for it.
There's a bloke down the road who used to own an MK SD33T, and his missus filled it with petrol. He reckons it lost a bit of power but still ran so he just left it till the next time he filled up, and it kept going no issues till he sold it.

did it to my mercedes. petrol into diesel
the range rover was dual fuel, swapped vehicles one day and had a brain fart when i went to the servo.
lucky I had a mercedes platinum members card. rang mercedes, they sent out a flat top, picked it up, dropped the tank, purged all the lines and gave it back 3 hrs later - all at no charge. i didn't drive it when i first realised what i'd done.

never did it again (touch wood)

An apprentice at work put 220ltrs of petrol into the work truck a few years ago. Realised what he had done when the fuel card wouldn't accept the fuel type on payment.
Lol needless to say he worked for free that week. Poor bugger.

My mum did it the other day with a work car. She gets a different car depending on what's left in the yard when she gets there, some petrol some diesel. She put 6 litres of petrol in a diesel before she realised, didn't start it and got it tilt trayed. all good after a tank drain I believe.

The misses mum did it a year or 2 ago with her 200 Series Sahara. Filled the tank with about 15L left in it. Made it about 9kms before it started sputtering, and then another 1km home after that. Mechanic came out and drained the tank and it lived. He wasn't confident when he started thats for sure.

During a fuel strike in the 70's I was operating dozers. Could get plenty of diesel but no petrol. I would mix standard petrol with diesel 50/50 and put it in my 253 Holden ute. It ran and got me to work clearing trees between grafton and casino.

I've never done it... owned both petrol and diesel

I don't know how people do it.
didn't see the DIESEL/PETROL ONLY sticker on the fuel hatch?
didn't see DIESEL/PETROL on the fuel cap itself?
put the correct fuel in the car every other time but "forgot" this time?

I haven't done it but a friend did. He had 2 navaras the same colour one petrol and one diesel.. He worked odd hours and one night filled the diesel (with long range tank) with petrol.
Expensive mistake even just for the fuel!

Padded from my LG-D855 using Padatalk.

A mate who is a mechanic at a dealership has kept his lawnmower going for years on fuel they drain from vehicles, diesel in petrol's and petrol in diesel's. The funny part is his lawnmower cried foul about a month ago and grenaded..........

I'm on my 4th Diesel in 30 years and the only time I got caught out was pulling into a new servo around 10 years ago that had driveway service on the day????? the guy directed me to a pump and commenced to fill, I got out to chat and saw he was putting petrol in............ I only worry about others doing it, not me, so I don't let anyone else do it ;).
