EGR blocking plate it says the thinner the better but how thin is to thin?

and what material did you use?

The same as the original gasket is best (based on doing my td) so the mating faces clamp down square.

1.6mm zinc sheet. Will check it after 3 or so years. Thinner is better as it doesnt put too much stress on the flanges by offsetting the pipe too much. Would think 2mm would be fine.

I used approx .6 mm stainless sheet (cut down a scrap range hood flue cover)

I highly doubt cooled exhaust gasses are going to melt through it.

I used a peice of colourbond roof sheet 70k ago and its still fine.

Dump pipe would be lucky to be 1.6mm so that thickness would be fine for the egr blockoff plate. Stainless would be nice. I used 2mm because that's all I had laying around and did have a bit of a stuff around trying to get bolts back in mainly because I blocked it off at turbo and inlet side , so 4mm difference but I got it on in the end

well if you can see a bulge in her stomach during each stroke then thats too skinny. get that biatch to eat more chips, steak and eggs.

I believe 1mm gal plate with a light coating of stag sealant to be ideal, and a limited risk of electrolysis, 1.6mm could push the aluminium housing out and increase the risk of distortion.

1mm mild steel would be fine. egr gas has cooled a bit before it gets there.

Hi all .8mm stainless plate. Make sure you block the vac hose to the valve aswell, that way it will always stay closed and no exhaust gas will reach it.

I used 1.2mm stainless.... worked a treat. 1.6mm should also be ok. Any thicker and it may cause a problem.
