Hi,

I cant find much info on the HT18, have searched this forum and Google but only get drips and drabs.

A few questions:
1) Im trying to find out if a HT18 out of a 99 GU coil cab ute is water cooled, the GU is not intercooled.
2) A factory manual so I can rebuild a HT18 and have all its specifications on hand.

Someone out there who has done this common conversion to a GQ TD42 must have this info ?.

Specs are to small for anything over about 12/13 psi boost. Boosts very early but got nothing up top and mate do yourself a favor and get a shop to rebuild it due to balancing and stuff. They spin pretty quick(upward of 20000rpm if my memory is good).

i belive the non intercooled models were watercooled and the intercooled ones were not water cooled turbochargers. hope that helps. ive been through this lately trying to get water lines.

I have factory non intercooled td42t with ht18 on it. Boost's 19.5 PSI all day motor is completley stock pump and turbo wise only addition is big front mount cooler. Pump been turned up and turbo dont lay over has 3in dump and exhaust and it hooks ass i can tow on high was in 5th gear with trailer and 2000kg car on the back doing 130km\h with ease. its great

I have factory non intercooled td42t with ht18 on it. Boost's 19.5 PSI all day motor is completley stock pump and turbo wise only addition is big front mount cooler. Pump been turned up and turbo dont lay over has 3in dump and exhaust and it hooks ass i can tow on high was in 5th gear with trailer and 2000kg car on the back doing 130km\h with ease. its great

Hey mate what's the max psi I can get from the ht18 turbo without a Intercooler? Im running 11 psi at the moment and everything is allgood but i want a little more boost .

Mine has a small intercooler and a boost tee. It struggles to maybe 16psi by 2600 rpm.
In the end they are a rubbish turbo. It is on the list to be replaced, but unfortunately the trol is low on the list of priorities for the immediate future.

My td42 is dyno tuned to 12 pounds of boost on the stock ht18 turbo from nissan, it runs really well I'm very happy with it has more than enough power .

I wouldn't go higher than 12 psi as my patrol is not intercooled and I don't want to risk any heating problems by going higher than 12 psi without a intercooler .

The HT18 turbo is not bad its actually pretty good for what it is , when it's tuned correctly by diesel specialists .
I was gana upgrade my turbo to a larger garret but i dont want to be homeless lol the ht18 at 12 psi is great trust me .

#Nissan Patrol GU 4.2 turbo diesel , 3 inch DEA Performance stright through exhaust, 3 inch dump pipe , 12 pounds of boost on ht18 turbo not intercooled. ❤

Hmm that doesn't sound right ? I was told that the ht18 turbo will max out at 12 psi , mine is pushing 12 pounds of boost and it goes alright, I can only imagine 19.5 pounds lol the thing must fly .
