I have just flicked through the latest 4WD Action and the review article on buying a used GU. One of the common problems it lists is a leaking "1/2 inch blanking plug" which is located on the passenger side, somewhere above the sump. Simply remove said plug and reseal to fix problem.

I have a slow leak on the passenger side of the engine and a simple fix like this sounds great! Problem is where the hell is this blanking plug!! I have searched here and Google and found nothing.

Hoping someone here can shed some light on this.

There is a waterjacket drain plug left side of the block,just forward of the bellhousing

about 10cm from the bottom of the block,has a hex head.None of mine have leaked.

Here is a pic of it, you can sort of see it between the two transmission fluid hoses and the belt. Mines been leaking for the last few thousand kilometres as you can see. Going to reseal it at next oil change

I was reading that same article, didnt now about the plug ether, cant agree with everything in that article though, at the begining they have + and - for buying used " Electronically controlled injection system requires specialist tooling" doesent every electronically controlled injection system require specialist tooling? and wouldn't every 4x4 made in the last 10 years be the same?
