Torrential rain hit Logan on the afternoon of 15th December 2010.

Victims were seen wandering around aimlessly, flannies soaked,
woollen trackies sagging, muttering 'Faaackinell'.

Flood waters devastated the area causing approximately $30 worth of
damage, $10 of that at Loganholme alone.

Three areas of historic burnt out cars were disturbed. Many locals
were woken well before their Centrelink cheques arrived.

The Logan West Leader reported that hundreds of residents were confused
and bewildered and were still trying to come to terms with the fact that
something interesting had happened in Logan.

One resident - Tracy Maree Sharon Britney Madonna Smith, a
15-year-old Mother of 5 said 'It was such a shock, my little
daughter Chardonnay-Mercedes came running in to my bedroom crying.
My youngest two
Joachim and River slept through it all.'

Apparently, looting, muggings and car crime were unaffected and
carried on as normal with a 95.7 % saturation rate .

The Australian Red Cross has so far managed to ship 4,000 crates of
Bacardi-Breezers to the area to help the stricken locals
particularly those at Woodridge.

Rescue workers are still searching through the rubble and have found
large quantities of personal belongings, including Health Care
Cards, Jewellery from Kmart and Bone China from Big W.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

This appeal is to raise money for food and clothing parcels for
those unfortunate enough to be caught up in this disaster.

Clothing is most sought after - items most needed include:
flannelette Shirts, tight blue jeans or spandex, singlets (blue &
white) white sport
socks, Ugg boots and any other items usually sold in Priceline or
The Reject Shop.

Food parcels may be harder to come by, but are needed all the same.

Required foodstuffs urgently needed include: Microwave meals, Baked
Beans, Ice cream, Chips, Fizzy drinks.

Donations of $15.00 will be taken to buy a packet of winny blue.

Shamelessly stolen off another forum.

Saw exactly the same email but it was about Queanbayan, NSW. It suited Qbyn very appropriately. I thought. Years ago I would have said Inala, but I understand that area is abit more upmarket now.

bit more upmarket? what's your benchmark? If you're using riverview as your benchmark than you are possibly right. anywhere else though... you'd be wrong ;).

My mother is from riverview :( But you are on the money there..... personally i liked it's off kilter charm, the stank of exposed earth and ladfill gas, the ever present clamour of the Samoan family across the road drunk and fighting, with the gentle background rumblings of a 6 cylinder VN doing a single legger down by the shops. Not to mention if you wanted to mow your grass you'd first have to retrieve the mower from one of your indigenous neighbours who had "Borrowed" it.......every week.

My uncles kingswood got stolen from the driveway....... 6 times in 4 years. NOT JOKING:D

I would love to love Riverview - specially down by the river - but that's the roughest part... go figure. My bro in law is from there as are a lot of my mates. I grew up in Redbank Plains. Another town turning into an 'Island Village'... :(

Dad did up an old G60 from the ground up. Spent a lot of money on getting it going and looking right. Packed her up for a holiday to fraser. wake up in the morning all ready to go on hols... G60 gone :(. Never got it back either. They found her all burnt out - all our gear / tools gone! That's when we got the MQ. The G60 was so much more fun as a kid!
