Hey guys

Just wondering if anybody has a LRA long range belly tank in there GQ patrol with a 5in lift or close to.

What i was wanting to know is when the rear end is flexing all over the place does the tailshaft hit the tank. I understand that you can get the bent upper control arms to suit but have heard of people saying that the tailshaft can hit.

Or can you just lengthen the panhard out as much as possible to stop it from hitting

I just dont want to spend 3k on a 5 in lift to find out it hits but really want a 5inch

Thanks

It will be a close call. You just have to try it and see. And I guess you could adjust it out with panhard rods... but then your wheels wouldn't sit right.

You will never have a diffinitive answer to this until you try it.

.all I can say is my brother in law's doesn't hit, very close though. He has round a 4 inch lift. Each patrol is proably different with this, lots of factors I guess. see how many posts u get either way and see what ur chances are. Good luck.
What lift kit u gonna get.

Nah Truckster i think its a problem with the aux tank mate, the rear tail shaft run parallel with the tank and would be pretty close with that setup as described by others.

I would hope that hitting the rear main tank with the tail shaft would NEVER happen given it sits behind the diff ;)

Problem is the tank manufacturers are all trying to outdo each other with capacities etc and most are designed around std height rigs so when more articulation comes into play it becomes an issue.

Why not try 3" springs with 2" spacers still have enough flex for any sort of 4WDriving
Sorry mate, i dont understand??? Why would you do that??

IMHO a 50mm spacer should be avoided if possible and is at the max limit of size. The guy has spent the money on the RIGHT size springs for his lift rather than a hack setup. Why on earth would you take a 5 inch spring out in favour of a 3 inch spring and a 2 inch spacer??

Spacers where originally introduces to "Trim" suspension to individual corners after a little settlement. 5mm and 10mm spacers were the norm. I now see 30mm, 50mm, even 75mm spacers WHY WOULD YOU?? Its a stop gap.
