How's the roof rack mounted on? And what sort of weight has it taken?

Looks like you're going to be up for a bit of fun fixing that rust. Be good to see another MQ shorty on the road, mind you I've been seeing heaps of them lately :)

Roof racks are small screwed on never had anything on them lol
The rust looks bad but will be easy to fix as the whole sill is getting cut off
The inner sill is fine will be alot easier than if it was smaller bits
Surprisingly it looks worse in the pics than it is

Hey Nerok can the 5th speed/ transfer case be removed from my 5 speed and bolted to the 4 speed at all as they look similar up to that point or is it impossible

not sure. i presume your talking about the 4 speed with the divorced transfer. i dont know a lot about them. i have also heard that swapping a transfer from a 4 to a 5 cant be done, but dont know for sure. you could be the one to find out!

It can't be done.
Different mainshaft diameter where it connects to transfer input gear.

So your not goin the auto route ???
Do a bitta reading regarding what works , whats compatable ect ???
If ya use the 5 speed and move it forward 100 odd MM you can use 4 speed tailshafts ect
Be very warry just beacuse alot of parts look the same they are not the same

Ive both MQ and MK here and youll be surprised of the little differences (just a wee tip 4 ya)

i think from all the other threads, he has swb sd33 5 speed and lwb l28 4 speed, so he cant swap driveshafts.

on a side note stokedappolo, dont hack up the 5 speed shafts, they arent that easy to find, i struggled for ages when i converted to 5 speed. you would be able to sell them no worries.

Thats cool, just wanted to know how ya goin
Looking at what neRoK wrote
Stick with the SD 5 speed get the conversion kit to suit this box
Move the motor in the bay to suit (IE new mounts)
Leave the box where its factory mounted
Then use the factory patrol tailshafts
A bitta thinking prior to shelling out $$$ will save money in the long run
Seems a few are goin this conversion
Its also good to do power comparison test when finished
IE 250 X-Flow Vs SD33T ect
Just for future reference
I know the 250 XFlow is gunna be lots and lots dearer to run than the SD

Hp and torque are similar with the 2 engines and xflow peaks at 2300 rpm for torque I think it was looking at other engines they are all high revers before Max torque will be good to get running that's for sure
