I have stripped in down due to having a 1992 Maverick with the dodgy paint. My factory paint had an issue with the undercoat delaminating from the paint. It would peel off in sheets!

I have seen a few others around with this problem and the only way to fix is is a bare metal respray.

Damn!! got to a stage where i considered it a write off and thought about just buying another one. Lets face it, it was already stripped down and ready to part out.

It has come a long way since these pics where taken but still not quite ready for the bush.

I will try and get some updated pics.

Cheers

LOL! yeah mate i have been busy. Been down a year now and is sooo close to being done. Just a few little things to go.

I have spent the last while custom fitting the Frozen Boost IC. That has been a MUCH bigger job than i expected it to be but i am going a little left field in its set up so allot of trial and error to make it fit.

I have added all the suspension listed as part of this build up to. I got the full setup from Shane at Suspension Stuff and i think he is surprised that i have not driven it yet as i bought the setup just before i decided to do this to it and it sat in a box for a long time.

"What are Drop Boxes"? drop boxes are fitted to the chassis rail at the back of the front radius arms and become the new rear fixing point for them. This changes the front castor back to nearly normal after a big lift. No Castor correction bushes required. much Better.

"Superiors" Everything! LOL. Love their stuff.
Front Drag link in Chromoly
Tie rod in Chromoly
front and rear Panards
Lower trailing arms and adjustable upper trailing arms.

I decided a long time ago that it is great to build a great truck but NEVER, EVER Add up the $$$. If by chance you are silly enough to do that sum NEVER EVER share that sum with the missus

Thanks for the interest Mav

Cheers guys

Paint! Paint! I now HATE Paint! lol

I was advised by my local auto paint shop to use an ISO Free 2Pak. Taking his advice on all thing paint (cause he is a pro? Right?) I use a gun that i bought off him, did the set up he advised me to use. Prepped, Prepped, Prepped. and had nothing but trouble!.

The Paint job cost me at least 4 or 5 months of this buildup. lost hair, drove me nuts.

After it all went pear shape and an extra couple of coats to try and resolve the problems i went back to him to ask him WTF is with this paint???

I have 5000+ hours in a spray booth polishing furniture so i dont have a bad trigger finger but this stuff just laid like i have never seen paint before and never flattened off.

I ended up writing off the first application and stripping it back to what i needed to apply again.

$$$$ later and much time out of my schedule it has come up ok.

It turned out that the setup the shop gave me was wrong and the Nozzle size they recommended was no where near enough. They had me on a 1.4mm when i ended up laying the paint through a 2.4mm for a Much better Result. Shame about the expense and lost time.

I have kept the original colour scheme of White over gun metal of the Maverick cause i really like it. The gun metal is in an acrylic metallic and laid beautifully then i added 3 coats of ISO 2Pak clear over the Metallic.

Need to sort out the red pin striping and have sorted a set of "Nissan Patrol" Badges for it! Shhh dont tell anyone.

"Its a Ford not a Nissan" will not be happy :ahah:

In the last pic there you can see the shock tower extensions i have fitted. I added 50mm to the shock tower.

I have fitted 80 series bump stops

The rear springs have drop out cones and spring retainers.
