Hi all, quick question on gearboxes, my td42 99 model stripped 5 gear, still drives but sounds terrible, specially in reverse. I’m thinking easiest way to fix is order a new box from someone like patrolapart for $2900 and have installed in Hobart, seems good price for all new box??

when i rebuilt mine about 2 years ago for the same issue. cost me about $1200 bucks in parts that included replacing a few dodgy synchros and full gearsets as well.
the parts are cheap but at about 8 hours to r&r the box along with probably another 8 to strip and rebuild the box its not a cheap job.
but getting yours reco'd should be cheaper than a new box.

probably worth noting that i got most of my parts from the middle east. which was significantly cheaper than here at the time. And i also get every other part at trade price i guess so that also could blur my vision a little bit.
that seems a bit dear for parts though. i would of expected about 1500 bucks all up in parts including the 5th gear kit.
