Just about to fit a new mechanical water temp gauge in the ute, 93 TD42, the problem I have is the capillary tube is to short to reach orignal sender location below thermostat, with out relocating gauge and removing half the dash to drill a hole.
So what I'm thinking is to modify the outlet on RHS of thermostat that feeds the heater, this looks to be easy enough to just unscrew barb fitting, add a tee peice and shorten heater hose.
My main query is do you think it will give a reasonably accurate reading as it's not in flowing coolant, unless heater is on, or do i just relocate gauge and fit to original sender location:confused::confused::confused:

Cheers

i think that is the inlet to the motor that you are talking about , the outlet is on the passenger side

so to fit it there would result in low readings all the time
