G'day all

My business partner has his TD6 stuck in Adelaide (Brisbane is home) while he awaits location of an ECU which has apparently fallen over and karked it. He is being told that there are none of the things in Oz, and that it had to be ordered from Japan which would take 4 weeks or so. More recent news is that it now has to come from Europe (!!??) and not likley to be seen until mid to late February.

It is almost beyond belief to imagine we don't have these in Oz, or that there is not a few of them available as used bits. Everything we have tried to date has failed. Does anyone have any ideas? Those Adelaidians here may have suggestions for some expert there who may do repairs??

I just love the complete lack of any symptoms that are occuring, real helpful to anyone trying to assist.

Does it:
- not start which makes it NATS
- run like a bag of **** which is probably the timing adjustment on the pump. This can be unplugged and it will run.

. Apparently the local 4WD expert and Nissan in SA have decided it looks like the first point you made, but they have decided it is not NATS. He has been advised ECU is stuffed. We understand it is certainly not the second point you make.

Unfortunately don't know a lot more at his point. Query is whether anyone is aware of local repair specialist or potential whereabouts of 2nd hand item (to enable hime to get the thing home at least). From here we are getting nowhere; fast.

If its an ecu issue, the engine WILL run without it.
If its nats, thats another story.

Have you tried niscommercial in adelaide, he can be expensive but there isnt to much he doesnt seem to have.

Hi all

Thought you may be interested in outcome on this. Turns out it was the immobiliser on the back of the fuel pump which had decided to kark it.

Nissan dealer service bloke here in Brissie was of great assistance in diagnosis and he spoke with his counterpart in SA who was then able to confirm problem. To make long story short, pump removed and sent away to local dealer who replaced immobiliser and the TD6 is back on the road and home.

Nissan in SA had not seen this issue before apparently, so assistance from Nissan here (who have seen it a few times recently) was critical and timely in that the right bit was identified and replaced without further excitement.
