Nissan Data Scan via Bluetooth

If anyone is looking for a ECU scanner for a fraction of the price than ECUtalk you can now purchase a Nissan Consult Bluetooth adapter from Nissan Consult Bluetooth 1989~2000 [NissanConsultBT] - $31.00 : BuyOBD.com, Taipei My Patrol is a series 4 and has the OBDII plug. The adapter comes with a OBDII adapter cable. I haven't tried it on a 14pin nissan plug but I'd assume that works too

Tom from Nissan Data scan recommend I try this adapter and I was a little sceptical but for just over $30 plus freight I thought why not.

I doubt it will ever replace ECUTALK but for me it does everything I want.
It reads RPM, speed, MAF volts, battery volts, engine temp, neutral switch and Injection Timing C/V. Reads and clears codes plus logging

My phone is a Google android and I used NDSI Lite version because it's free but it has ads. For $9.99 get the NDSI and the ads are removed.
Here are some screen shots.

Nice find. So you can mount your phone somewhere in front of you and see data in real time?
At this stage it sits on the dash. There is a slot on top of the centre dash where it sits. In the setting, you can have so the screen never turns off and use your phones GPS for true speed over ground.
I have just bought one today. hopefully it gets here as a Christmas gift for myself.
how long did yours take to arrive M4tho?
Hey M4tho,

the seller sent me a pdf explaining to download his software. did you do this or does the phone app sync up with out having to configure it on a computer?
Hey Mike, it takes about 2 to three weeks, depending on your location.
I downloaded Nissan Data Scan from the google play store. There is a free one there called NDSI lite (pictured) I have installed the paid version.
You shouldn't have to configure anything, just plug the adapter in your OBD2 under the dash and turn the app on, press connect. It will scan for devices and your away.

Lol, so not for the crds?
No but if you have a CRD, your lucky. Ebay has thousands of OBD2 on there that will work for you.
Oh, ok, I will have a look around, just want to clear codes if I egr block.
thank you for the info!
Sweet cheers M4tho,
i really didn't wat to have to go around downloading software from his shared server. The app sounds much better :)
Looking forward to it, email said it got sent yesterday so heres hoping for 3 weeks.

Cheers again for the find.
Just an update on this for anyone that is following.

My scan tool rocked up just before Christmas and was pretty easy to install and get up and running.

I bought the app mentioned above (NDSI) and now have a functioning scan tool in the GU

Happy days for around $50
Just found this thread and bought one. Hopefully it'll arrive in the UK 😅

Mine arrived today. I found that it is very hit and miss with connecting (takes a few tries before it will connect) Also with it plugged in my ABS light keeps flashing. Anyone else have this happen?
Good morning fellas,

I received my device in the mail yesterday, and went to plug it in this morning.
I got connected, but then get ini failed in NDSI.

Looking through forums, it appears my pins may be connected incorrectly?
Any of you with this working, would you mind posting up a picture of the pin setup, please?

My adapter came with the "new revised" pin setup. I've attempted to move the yellow from 14 to 9, without any different results. Still comes up with the ini failed.

In both cases, bluetooth does connect.

Cheers,
Martin

Hey mate, yeah I connected mine not long ago and had a similar issue. Stuffed around for ages and search for hours but now working flawlessly.
I'll pull it out tomorrow and take a pic of the pins

I've bought one of these about a year ago, it's never worked.

Yours must not be setup right either.
