If it is not too loud and there all the time I would think it was the sound of the turbo spooling up and pushing a heap of air.
If it sounds like a slipping fan belt gone mad then its a gasket.
The Nissan gaskets are multi layer stainless steel items that are perfect whistles they fail. Just like a reed on a flute etc.
When they first fail. The noise will go away once it gets hot and expands. After a while it will be noisy all the time.
It will become obvious to you and everyone else when the exhaust manifold gasket goes.
It is normal to be able to hear the turbo spool up.
