Hello we are thinking of doing a trip from Silverton, north along the NSW/SA border thru Mulga Valley and Fort Grey near Camerons Corner, wondering if anyone has done that, or have any info about the area.
Have done that loop, they are mainly tracks used by farmers and station owners and workers, so make sure you slow down and give them right of way. Not too much interesting to look at, other than Depot Glen and milparinka. Personally Depot Glen is better to camp at than Fort Grey as there is generally less others there. Theres a good hill climb too at Depot Glen, worth the walk as it gives you a good view of the surrounds.
There is the hill out the back of Silverton where the bitumen road drops away down to the Mundy Mundy plains where they filmed mad max 2 (and 3?), and just a bit further around is a water reservior thats worth a stop to look at.
Mutawintji (sp) is good if you want to do the gorge walk, the camping area isnt bad and there is also a guided walk of traditional sites from near the camping area from a native guide which is interesting. Otherwise, no 4wding to speak of.
