2008 Patrol GU VI.

Need to brace my ARB air compressor against something in the engine bay.

Are these bolts for the dashboard? Do they have nuts behind them that may fall off?

Anyone know if I can safely remove these?

Easy half loosen the bolt and see if it moves it should be just a captive nut and won't move but that's what I'd do

I am using the right hand one, but not for the Air compressor.

And as BeNnos said its a captive nut, well it is on mine anyway.

Is there a reason for you wanting to have the compressor in the engine compartment?

There is a lot of heat in that position that you have selected & the dust can be an issue as well.

only reason you wouldn't have a compressor inside your car is the noise. and bolting it to the dashboard effectively is hardly the best option for noise reduction.

Hi guys....

Why is it in the engine bay? 'cause that's where they installed when I bought the car
Only mounted on 2 bolts so I am sure some prolonged corrugations will take care of it short sharp.

Need to save up for some drawers in the back and will then mount in the back on the side somewhere with outlet to get to my trailer ...

I the meantime I want to brace this up a bit with a metal bracket.

Captive nut? OK thanks: will have a look on the w/e. Hope the dash don't fall out !!!!!!!
