I'm curious as to what power steering mods people have done to their vehicles

I've seen a couple which were a bit dodgey (XF/XG Falcon and WZ Holden) so am looking at having a go with a proper engineering certified job.

I've seen chat on a Datsun 2000 mod, but never seen any pics

if its not a PITA I wouldn't mind looking at commercialising an adapter kit.

I wouldn't mind doing a range rover mod as my old rangie steers and points a whole lot better than even the GQ Shorty (IMO of course).

Has anyone come across real world effective working mods?

why would you need to modify it?? if anything a gu setup into a gq and its direct bolt on otherwise there is no real drama or issues with the patrol steering maybe you should look for your problems elsewhere. Bushes, angles, alignment, bearings, the steer box.

the setup is fine, no wobbles, tracking issues etc... it just doesn't drive as well as my classic rangie

the box isn't leaking but the pump is a bit ordinary...

the gu's aren't a direct bolt on. afaik, pitman arms, tierod ends, adjustable bars are needed to do the switch

only mod ive heard of is adapting falcon pumps as a good gq pump is hard to find,
there's a bloke who's done an XD-XF box conversion, but it was pretty rough. according to him it was worth the conversion.

I'm willing to gamble a mod on the maverick just to see what can be done, but I'd like to do it properly.

eg its cheaper to get P38 rangie steering boxes and pumps out from the UK than it is to get a recon GQ set with a short warranty. ditto for F350 boxes

By F350 are you saying the American Ford trucks? Just curious 'cause there are heaps of them around here...
they're the ones. pre 2003 boxes the latter ones are a bit screwy and they get their own version of the death wobbles

LHD ones are no good for me though :)

Superior engineering did a hydro assist drilling and tapping into the steering box.

The driver could spin the steering wheel like the tyres werent even on the ground!
