Princess freeway at morwell is closed due to fears of it slideing into the open cut coal mine.Traffic will be diverted though morwell town ship,if heading up that way allow extra time as traffic will be slow movin though town.
They are saying it maybe up to 3 months before it is reopened.

When I left work in Morwell this afternoon and went to a mates for a beer I was amazed at the amount of traffic in Morwell and mentioned to my mate that it reminded me of Morwell before the bypass was built, Morwell was a thriving mining town before they built a freeway around it and privatised the power stations.
I have thought for a long time that building a freeway right next to an open cut mine was a silly idea.

There may be thread here on 'the rise of women' but let's not get carried away! As far as I know the Princes Freeway has not been changed to the female version!!!!

If it was Princess Freeway I wouldn't mind it sliding into a mine.:p:grin::confused:

This long weekend should test everyone having to drive through the town. The damage to the section of road has been getting worse and will apparently take longer than three months to repair, lots of smaller roads in town are degrading because they cant handle the increase of local cars using every shortcut they can to avoid princes drive. Has been a big boost for local businesses though with lots more signs up than usual advertising food etc.

Ive heard by a mate in Traralgon that they will be removing a section of road to inspect the ground underneath to see if its suitable for a mud drag event, and then compact earth and reseal afterwards xD

how is this going? open yet?
Farked thats how.
I never thought i waould say it would suck, cause it brings more business into the town, But a simple thinkg like getting milk is a pain in the a hole.
I'm now 2 streets away form the old new highway. (aka Princess drive) To get fuel takes another 5 minutes just trying to get out in the traffic . FARK FARK FARK.

What used to take 5 minutes to go to mums and pick up my son and home, now can take up to 15 minutes. bit crazy and the local servo i go to has lost business. so i don't think it's that great at the moment
