Yeah well, i have done so many different things to my rig i cannot remember them all, but this one is one of those things that you need to be prompted about to remember that made a difference that was worth while. Some of my experiments are not worth while.
You always share on this forum your knowledge which kinda makes all your experiments worthwhile, even if its to save us numpties from doing dumb ****e.

I just replaced mine, took me 20mins including packing up tools.

First step turn steering wheel until it locks, mine locked with the rag joint bolts facing upwards.

Remove the rubber shield.
Spray wd40 on the splines. I used this setup to undo the bolts from the top.

Use a screwdriver to pry the split apart a little to free up some movement.
Then tap the rag joint up the steering column till its free of the steering box, push the column towards engine and slide rag joint off, this took some gentle taps with hammer.

Slide new uni joint onto steering column, push on as far as it will go, lift the column above the steering box spline and lower it down wriggling as you go.
Once its lined up gentle tapping to seat it all the way home.

The original bolts have a collar, Im not sure if they will fit through the hole in the uni joint.
I used m8 x 25mm 8.8bolts with m8 x 17mm washer.
You cant install with the bolts already in place as they foul on the spline.
