Need Heeeeeeeelp I have 03 gu wagon 3ltr turbo. Recently i noticed a rattle when i hit a bump or the sound was more like a steel washer running around an axle or drive shaft. Could find nothing as was not every bump. As a true male i thought it will break and i will find it easy. Not so on the odd occasion it will start and wind down as you slow untill you stop then it stops. When you move again it is gone. Now things i have done to try to eliminate this noise start with.
Changed sway arm bushes front and rear
Changed sway bar rods front and rear
Had extra bracing put on exhaust
Had brakes done front and rear
had wheel bearing checked and repacked
tightened dump pipe bolts
Uni joints feel ok

Has anyone had this problem and found out what it is as i am running short on ideas now

Use some WD40 on your shock-absorber mounts ... might help. Anyhow, just an idea for starters.
Little squeaks and rattles are common at this time of year when everything dries out.

This rattle is loud enough to make people look and it does not have to be a bump to start it.

Hmmmm. Tricky. Transmission? Steering damper? Radiator fan?

I can guarantee it will be the last thing you look at.

Have you checked that the diff pinion seal guard is tight on the pinion??

Your talking about where you tail shaft goes into the diff? Mmmmmmm will check that out i supose it could come loose n tight would definatly match the noise thank you.

I had what i think was a dust guard from the transfer case sliding up and down the tail shaft at on point, it was getting fairly annoying,

must have broke it cus its not there anymore :S

Thank you i did have a look and yes it was the cover over the front of the diff was not sure exactly how to stop it but wedged a screw drivr in there to make sure it was hard up on the diff n used the old sealastic. Was considering a centre punch but was not sure. Thanks i had this inspected 3 times by surposed suspension professionals hard to get good help these days. Cheers crusty
