Had a look at a GQ LWB for 9K, was diesel, looked good for the dollars, though it had rear drum brakes.......
I want one with all 4 wheels, disks.
How common are the drum models, and wat model exactly are they? so i know what to avoid.
I have no idea about which models, but the 88 workshop manual has details on both discs & drums - but no info on the factory locker.. which leads me to believe there must be some 88 models floating around with discs but no lockers (although they may be overseas somewhere  )
Yeah I guess so. I just saw an ad in the trading post for front and rear gq diffs complete disc to disc with 4.11 gears for 2000. Interesting, I might stick with the drums for a little while yet.
From what i've seen the early (88 and 89???) DX patrols (SWB and LWB) had drums at the rear, all others had discs, i think the DX changed to disc around the 90's. I wouldn't have a clue when it comes to mav's.
i've got a 90 mav with drums on the arse end as well ....does anyone know if the diff housings are the same as a disc model as i wont mind changing mine over to disc
