The hook on the right side at the front that bolts to the chassie rail

That's not going to let go in a hurry!!! It's a shame it's in a mongral spot because it's a whole heap stronger than most of the aftermarket rubbish!!

Get ARB or TJM to fit plates for you on both rails at the front. They are pretty darn strong and you will get a nice even pull with the use of an equaliser strap. Be safe rather than sorry I recon.

They can straighten out and bend the chassis rails :(

I would go for 2 recovery points (not hooks) and use an equaliser strap ;)

P.S like these

that's what is supposed to happen. Better an empty snatch strap flying through the air than a lump of steel or a d shackle. I'll never use one of those bs eye type 'recovery' hooks. the ones in the pics (except maybe the first) are the same as the tie down points on the troll.

i used on eon my hilux as i couldn't get to the recovery hook and ripped it off. The bolt just pulled from the tread.

Any recovery system should pull ACROSS the bolt, not along it.

the factory hook on the patrol is bolted to the chassis across the line of pull. the hook will fail long before the bolts will and all you'll have is a flying strap, not strap with d shackle + recovery eye + bolts.
