I am moving the recovery points from my old dead 2009 GU to my new spritely 2009 GU which has a different bullbar.

Thing is the third hole doesnt line up with the bullbar flange!
The horizontal slot in the chassis is fine, but the bullbar has a vertical slot (!)

So, my question is would it be safe to drill out the bullbar flange to allow the third bolt through?

The images show the factory 2 bolt recovery point happily sitting in place with the bullbar flange bolted in. And the lovely yellow RoadSafe points not lining up.....

The factory hook only has the two bolts so I would only use the same two. As long as the bolts are the right type.

But does the bullbar need it to hold the bullbar in place. If so, then yes.

I doubt removing a small amount of metal is going to weaken it.

Drill a new appropriate size hole right about in the lower portion of where that safety sticker is and put the correct bolt in. Then die grind the bullbar mount out where it is fouling that recovery point porthole as well.

How do you go getting a 4.7T bow shackles through the slot? I see a bit of overhang from the bull bar. Reason I ask is my mate has the same points on his 08 troll and he struggles to get a shackle on. I suggested grinding a bit of the bar off.

Yea, it does have another bolt holding it just forward of the problem one. Visible in the pic.

Good point. The shackle just fitted in the previous troll. I havent actually tested this one.
Probably should do before I start removing metal!

I'd be buying a couple of recovery points designed for use with that bullbar.
That is preference #1, but not wanting to spend any $ because of a ****ty hole!

Surely taking 5-10mm off of the bar mount won’t hurt. Definitely undesirable but it surely wouldn’t affect safety rating.

Why not swap them around like I did.

Plenty of room for any shackle with the original bull bar bolt back in place.

I’ve had two bolts in the top of them for years with plenty of use and never had a problem.

Not too keen on attempting to drill through 10mm of steel on the recovery point, I dont have the gear to do that type of job properly.

The shackle should just clear the hole....

Is the bullbar adjusted properly? I had a similar issue (not as bad though) and I managed to push the bullbar further rearward, which solved both the bolt and shackle issues.
Good point. Haven't checked that.
Its just a matter of about 5mm or so, so could be just an adjustment.
Cheers, will look into it.
