Hey Guys.

Quick question regarding defects. I own a 2000 GU station wagon with 7 seats. I've taken the 2x boot seats out and was wondering if I get pulled over, is there a chance I will get fined for not having the 2 seats? Will I get questioned why it's rego'd as a 7 seater when acting as 5 seater?

Everyones imput is welcome.

Cheers

I ran a 1998 GQ RX TD seven seater in the NT, SA and ACT. I had the cargo bay rear 2 seats out for 5 years but left the belts there. The only place I had a problem was in the ACT when I went to rego it there. I had to put the seats back in to get it rego'd. No problems anywhere else.Take the cargo seats belts out as well and no one will be any wiser.

Check with your state rego to get the answer. I do not think the police would be bothered with something as trivial but you never know if they are in a bad mood. You would be unlucky.

God bless Queensland. This question only seems to rare it's ugly head from our fellow Patrollers from the sunny state. I can understand if one puts extra seats in the vehicle and it's not designed fro it but how can takeing seats out of a vehicle compromise safety. That is unless some drop kick has passengers where there are suppose to be seats. This is from a state when recently visiting our family we were pulled over in our Patrol at a Random Breath Test and Young Policeman advised me to turn off my headlights because in this state (I had Vic plates) headlights are to be turned off between Sunrise and Sunset. I would love to see that written in a book somewhere. We were at the end of our trip from Melbourne and I travel with lights on for safety. I Victoria we have signs on our highways to tell us to turn our lights on when travelling.

Happy Christams everyone.

i find th eheadlights thing BS. I leave mine on all the time... it's comapany policy...

If you get pulled up re: the seats, BIG if mind you, just tell them it's temporary...

It's also illegal to have the seats in there if you have a cargo barrier...
paradox?

Funny about the cargo barrier question mic. as they have an emergency installed by law! Why would that be the case if these is no seats or peole in there?

Makes you wonder about some of these so called "laws"

Mine has no emergency exit...

I think it's more if you (or a kid) gets in there and close the door - they can't get out...

Seats = something to smash into i think...

the doco that came with my barrier stated you cannot have anyone sitting behind it by law.
