The factory workshop manual refers to the one on the 4.8 as a "decorative cover" ...

I'd assume that it is the same with the ZD30 ..

I removed mine as soon as I got the vehicle home, whereupon it became a "shed ornament"
(the cover, that is) ;)

The cover on the ZD30 is not decorative. It is used to seal off the intercooler and scoop.
Without it the air going into the scoop will travel around the intercooler instead of through it.

I drove from Central coast to Sydney without it and noticed increase in egt temps, unless you can work out a way to seal it I would leave on.
