Do a bit of a search, I'm sure I've seen an existing thread on this.

How hard is it to replace wire cable to nylon on a Warn XD9000 winch
Very easy if you have a proper synthetic rope with the correct attachment. It’s a straight swap.

Just follow the Warn instructions. You need to ensure there’s enough tension on the rope when you spool it on, else the outer layers can get trapped on the inners and you’ll struggle to get them out again.

I also fitted an aluminium hawse fairlead, but some would argue this is not necessary.

Changed mine back in August.

And a week later gave it a good working, still using the rollers.

Have been to the Vic High Country around Omeo since too and had to winched fallen trees and myself a couple times with no issues.

Do people have problems with heat damaging nylon rope when using the winch under load. I know some may say use it 1 minute on/off or whatever time they believe in but once steel heats up it takes a long time to cool and if you really need to work it hard for a reasonable time can nylon handle heat if the winch transfers it to the drum.

The winch ropes are polyethylene, not nylon, which is unfortunate as far as heat is concerned because nylon melts a hundred degrees higher than polyethylene. Damage to the dyneema rope from the heat of the winch motor is definitely an issue. Do a web search on "melted winch rope" and you will get lots of hits.

Do people with low mounts like the XD9000 have a synthetic option then?

Heaps of options. You just have to be careful and take your time.

I'll point out that most of the cases of heat damaged Dyneema don't result in the rope breaking but I have no doubt the capacity of the rope is reduced.

If you want quality get a Warn. If you want cheap and cheerful get a Kings. For something in between try a Carbon or Runva. Hard to recommend something without knowing your priorities.
This looks the goods thanks mate 'Carbon Winches Australia 24m x 10mm Synthetic Rope Spliced with thimble'

Do you happen to know if an ARB Deluxe Bar with a Warn XD9000 requires an offset Hawse 😁

Looking for something under $200ish that will be reliable when I need to use it once a year

Under $200ish? Well 30m of 10mm Dyneema winch rope is normally $199 but currently on special for $139.
