Does yours have a beep? I have seen that on some Patrol utes here, but i though it was an add on.1990 automatic Safari TD42. Are the reverse lights and reverse beep activated by the inhibitor switch on the side of the transmission?

Do you have it on your 5 spd? The only beeper on my 5spd was the 105K alarm.Don't all Japan spec vehicles have this?
Ask around if all vehicles (auto or manual) in Jam are required to have reverse beep. If so then it is an add on for the Japan spec manuals. Other markets not sure. The patrols it on werent auto though.
Where are you?Talking of beeps
whats the beep when u turn off the egnition?
mine is imported from japan. its a five speed and no beep (luckely) when reverse.
Why wouldn't you use the reverse light wire for this?I thought it was an add on too. I am planning to use the hot wire on the beeper as a relay trigger for some better back-up lights on the wife's rig.
Mine does this, it's the engine immobiliser. Stick your head under the steering wheel and you will see a box with lots of wires zip tired up there.well. my one beeps (beep beep beep pause beep beep beep pause beep beep beep)
as soon as I have removed my key from the ignition
it sounds like a arlam device ( whitch I don't have) is set.
