Gday,

Quite new here, but just picked up a 99 GU DX 4.2

Anyhow was under the 4wd yesterday and i noticed some chassis surface rust by the look of it and was wondering what to do to treat it (paint??), also found a little rust bubble on the fwd r/h inner chassis where the exhaust runs past. Any tips on how to go about fixing this? It looks like it hasnt gone through yet.

I degreased the underbody yesterday and i couldn't find any other problems so far.

I would hav eleft the oil on! ust inhibitor!

Get some rust converter and spray it on your rusty bits. that'll fix em!

As Mic said and then paint some decent rust inhibiting paint over it, Don't go the sealer way as rust can eat away underneath and you won't see it

Yeah thanks guys, I don't think I would go for the sealer, I think I will give the little rust bubble a little clean up and then hit it with the rust inhibiting paint and then do the same with the rest of the chassis ie paintit with the same rust inhibiting paint
