Make sure the glow plugs are really heating up, sometimes the light goes out after 20 seconds but you need to wait for the click about 50sec. If the easy start works try a bit longer with the glows.

Is the fuel system primed right through?

Some controllers (earlier versions) have three positions Start-Run-Stop.

Others like mine have only two positions Run-Stop

If there is fuel present while cranking and the combustion chamber is pre-heated then there is not much else to stop it firing.

Are you sure that 1. Fuel is getting to the injectors.
2. Glow plugs are pre-heating the chamber.

Try heating the inlet manifold and head with a heat gun while cranking.

Cheers Ric

N/A versions had Stop-Run-Start positions.
Turbo had Stop-Run only.
If it doesn't start, make sure fuel is not returning to the tank - use priming pump until fuel flows from bleeder(need to loosen it with 10mm spanner) on the Injection pump.

No offence intended, but that is incorrect, the Turbo pump I have has 3 positions, Start - Run - Stop :ahah: So has all other pumps I've seen, in fact, I've never seen one with 2 positions, but heard that they exist

mate, to test your glowplugs, push or pull start the car, if it fires up, it's DEFINITELY your glow plugs

If it still does not start up, pull the Fuel Pump lever off (the lever coming from the EDIC to the Fuel Pump), then pull the fuel pump controller all the way forward, lock in place with a zip-tie or something simmilar

Then try pull starting it again

If this doesn't work, try bleeding the fuel, a little screw on the front part of the fuel pump needs to be loosened and then use the manual pump for bleeding

Then test again

To me though, it sounds like your glowplug system :)

Diesel will start with only 3 good glow plugs

Have the old glow plugs been tested ???
I know they are an easy to fix issue
But it should eventually start even if the glow plugs are half buggered

Aerostart well its a band aid solution
Yeah it mite start but is that the issue ???
Anyway youve got the new glow plugs bang em in and see how it goes

When you turn the key onto ignition you should be able to move it slowly untill you hear the glow relay under the bonnet "click", hold for 15 or so seconds then start.

Sounds like the new plugs will do the trick
Dont forget bugger the dash lights wait for the "Click" and she should be good
Spot on there MQ Mad
After the dash light goes out the relay still holds in for quite a while. As soon as you hear it drop out crank her over.

Are you sure you don't have N/A pump controller fitted do the turbo pump?
I have never seen turbo pump with 3 positions.
My pump have cable operated kill lever(it's on top of IP, with spring pulling it to the front of engine with cable disconnected).

Make a pic od your IP and post it here if you can.
